CAMPAIGNERS opposing plans to site a train stabling and wash facility next to Pike Road in Broomridge are suggesting Network Rail look at another site. Network Rail director Ron MacAulay told members of Broomridge Community Council that the Pike Road site ‘fits the bill’ for their needs.
Local residents are still reeling from the news that the rail company is considering plans to clean and wash up to 36 trains a night on the land next to their homes.
And although it could be several years before the train wash becomes a reality – tying in with the electrification of the Glasgow to Edinburgh route in 2016 – locals have been quick off the mark to organise their protest.
